Wow – what a day we’ve just had at the Epic Open in Chepstow! All of the kids were amazing and it was brilliant to take down some of our new fighters giving them them the opportunity to compete for the first time after all the hard work they have been putting in over the last couple of months.
The day was so busy with both continuous and points fighting. Alfie Rose (-135 beginners and intermediate) one of our new fighters was first up and lost in extra time in both divisions; Denis Singh (-135 advanced boys) smashed his division and won gold in both continuous and points with some really great fighting; Josh Haydon (-135 advanced boys) narrowly lost in extra time in the qtr finals of his points fighting but again smashed it up in the continuous scoring some jump spinning kicks then narrowly lost to his team mate in the final; Ben Hudson (-145 beginners and intermediate) had his first time outing and put on a great fight loosing in extra time; Thomas Mackay (-155 beginners and intermediate) first time again and again lost by one point in his division then won second place in the intermediate division; and Leire Roland (-155 girls beginner and intermediate) lost both fights in extra time by 1 point after some excellent back fists and high scoring bouts.
A big thanks to Andy Cleaves and his team for making us feel so welcome and running a fantastic comp and to all the parents for waiting patiently and supporting the kids.
Well done kids – can’t wait to get you all out to the next comp!
