So you may have noticed that over the past few months we’ve been in the process of extending the gym to create a lovely new gym area to train in. We’ve knocked through walls, built new ones, rewired lights, sanded, painted and generally been extremely busy whilst trying to run our classes as normal. It’s been tough but we’ve finally managed to get our new mats in and now it’s looking pretty cool.
Before, we had two areas to the gym, one area that was fitted with secondhand mats (we couldn’t afford much else at first!) and an area at the back that needed levelling off and sorting out. Last weekend, with the help of Keith (one of the extremely helpful parents at our club), we managed to do just that and go that bit further by ripping out the old mats and fitting the new ones with expert precision (Keith, you’re a natural at mat fitting!). We think the end result is great. The new gym is so much bigger and the space is so much nicer. We’ve even got two fight areas which will be great for training and for when we hold interclub events/sparring sessions in the future!
Thank you to Keith and also, James Anderson for their help in this process. We really couldn’t have done this so quickly without you (and we wouldn’t have done it half as well either!). Also, thank you to all our students, parents and visitors for being patient while we’ve been undergoing work. We realise it’s been a bit messy but hopefully you feel that it’s been worth the wait.
Let’s start enjoying our new gym guys – I know we can’t wait to run our first grading session in it tomorrow!!
